Bear Lake Memorial Hospital Auxiliary
|
Join the Club and Make a Difference. The Auxiliary has been in operation since the early 1980’s, providing support, donating time and equipment and acting as ambassadors for the Hospital. The group is managed and operated by an elected board of officers. Membership is open to all adults ages 18 and over, upon completion of a short interview with the director of Volunteers services, completion of service training related to your service opportunity, and payment of annual dues of $5. An annual commitment of 144 hours of volunteer service is requested for membership in the Auxiliary. Associate members may give service seasonally or assist with a particular project, without an annual hours commitment. Associate members are still assessed the annual dues, but waive the privilege of special recognition at the yearly Volunteer Appreciation event. The BLMH Auxiliary members log an average of 17,000 hours of service per year to the Hospital and those whom we serve. |
What does a Hospital Auxiliary Member do?

Work at the Thrift Store The Auxiliary Thrift Store is one of the Community's nicest stores – often referred to as the “Montpelier Mall”. Auxiliary volunteers sort, wash, and iron clothing and prepare merchandise for sale in the clean and tastefully decorated boutique. The Thrift Store receives generous donations of clothing, books, household items, toys, jewelry, and many other treasures each day from area residents. Friendly volunteers greet and assist our loyal customers during hours of operation Wednesday-Saturday each week. |
| Quilting and Sewing Auxiliary volunteers produce beautiful quilts and baby blankets. Quilters meet at the hospital Monday and Tuesday mornings September-May of each year. Many members work from home throughout each year, crafting dishtowels, pillowcases, baby gift sets, and other handiwork, which are sold at the hospital showcase (our temporary gift shop). The showcase is located at the front entrance of the Hospital. |

| Patient and Hospital Support Auxiliary volunteers may serve within the hospital campus as greeters, clerical assistants, cashiers, patient advocates, patient assistants, activities helpers, beauticians, and companions to residents in the nursing home and Manor, pet-therapy companions, and in many other ways that enhance and support the care given at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. However, any volunteer (Auxiliary member or not) must complete a separate Volunteer Services application and screening process before placement within the Volunteer Services program in any position that would include direct patient contact or contact with patient information. Please complete the on-line application and see Judy Fitzsimmons, Director of Volunteer Services, (208) 847-4445 for further information regarding specific volunteer opportunities within the hospital campus. |
